What is the relationship between art and perceiving something as "beautiful?"

Art is often characterized to be that which is beautiful
Beauty means: the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit
Beauty implies words like pretty, attractive, etc. but these are not always the case in art
In art, the words beauty and beautiful can be thought of as emotionally arrousing.
Therefore, art is a conceptual endeavor
This endeavor or experience can be evoked by terror, pain, joy etc. - all of these things can be pleasurable.
