Flashcard (Front and Back)

Front (Question)

What is the carbon dioxide cycle?

Back (Answer)

Atmospheric CO2 dissolves in rain water acid rain ! (carbonic acid)
Acid rain dissolves rocks on land masses, rivers carry minerals to the sea.
Calcium and dissolved CO2 react, fall to ocean floor, and create limestone.
Tectonic plate action transports this "CO2" rich limestone to subduction zones, carrying it into the Earth's Mantle.
Some of the subducted "CO2" rich limestone melts, releases its "CO2", which can be then later out-gassed in volcanoes.
