How do you identify swing voters?

- Ask them who they vote for, see if they vary from party to party
- Ask them if they identify strongly or weakly with a party
- See if you can identify social issues that differ from party
o Why candidates focus on this during elections
o Candidates believe they can peel off voters based on social issues
o Reps focus on abortion politics, gay rights, etc.
o Dems focus on Iraq, stem cell research

Swing voters- are Partisans but have different opinions from their main party.
