Why does realignment work in our country and not others? + When can it work?

o Our gov't works incredibly slow
o Divided houses, don't' need to vote with party leader, etc.
- When can the gov't be responsive?
o When your party has a huge majority
o 1936 - (house 333-90, senate 75-17) dems huge majority
o Could do anything you want
